About this artwork

Varying shades of purple, green, and blue paint the scene at Lake Placid, New York in this impressionist piece by artist Paula Martino. Made entirely with a palette knife, Paula uses pale yellow clouds to balance the cooler hues. Lush pine trees stand at the very edge of the lake. The palette knife application of paint results in a textured impasto, says Paula. And the cool hues take the viewer straight into a cold yet sunny winter day.
