About this artwork
This painting was inspired by a large cactus in a field of scrubland. There is a crooked tree with uneven fencing in the background, and dark, low distant hills. The color palette of purple, yellow ochre, bright green, and black make for an intriguing setting that compels a second look. The second look invites the viewer to step into this overgrown tract of land to see what's going on there. There is texture from the collage as well as added visual texture from the stenciling.
