About this artwork

This acrylic painting by artist Edward McHugh is based on his own photograph taken at the Long Beach Kite Festival on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. While the composition remains faithful to the original image, the artist deepens the sky and introduces rolling fog to heighten the sense of drama. The female figure is an added element, while the kites remain true to those captured in the original photograph, preserving a connection to the moment it was taken.
