About this artwork
A gigantic horned goat looms over a surreal medieval landscape, its face framed by a wide yellow band cutting across the dark sky. Bats, winged insects, and UFOs drift through the air, adding to the otherworldly atmosphere. Below, a man dressed in blue raises his hands and tilts his head upward, reacting to the strange scene above, while a snake coils around a wooden cross planted beside him.
The artwork draws inspiration from an Old English folk tale about a deceased beekeeper, in which children circle the hives to announce his passing. In the story, a swarm of bees arrives during the funeral and settles on the flower-covered casket as it is laid in the cemetery. The painting offers a loose interpretation of this narrative.
