Loose Interpretation
About this artwork
Inspired by one of Agata's road trips, which took her past Lake Powell at a teasing distance. Beautiful turquoise suggests piercing, clear desert skies or reflections on water, and the orange hints not so subtly at the colorful cliff walls rising out of the lake, she explains. Layers of oil stick and sand mixed into the oil paint and cold wax create nuanced texture and a tactile quality. Agata says the work is satisfying for those who love the alluring colors of the southwest. The sides are painted a dark chocolate color.
