About this artwork

Artist Javier Ortas depicts black and white shorebirds with long, fine pink legs, giving the birds an elegant gait. "Stilt is a common name for several species of this family of bird," explains Javier. "I have been an observer of nature since childhood. Although I paint using my imagination, a lot of these different species of birds are in my memory. I grew up watching and distinguishing different animals in the field on weekends and summers. Even today, bird watching is something I truly enjoy."
