About this artwork

This imagined scene grows out of the cinematic world that inspires artist Javier Ortas. A sudden creative spark moved him to paint a man, the hero of the story, still dressed in a classic prison uniform, as he makes his escape with the help of a rope. While security spotlights sweep the yard through the night, he has already slipped beyond their reach. The painted area measures approximately 11 inches x 17 inches. Below it, the Spanish title La Fuga appears alongside the artist’s signature and the year written in two digits (22).
