About this artwork

"As an artist, I constantly look for the ordinary to elevate and give it the attention that it deserves," says artist Dwight Smith. "In this painting, it was my wife's dresser. A beautiful rustic antique walked by and used every day. Function follows form for this piece of furniture until one day I looked at it in a different light.  It represented a pear tree with two pears gingerly resting waiting to be picked."
