About this artwork

Artist Heather Patterson assembled various pieces of wood into a cohesive puzzle. The sculpture features reclaimed wood, driftwood, yardsticks, colorful domino blanks, Montessori counting sticks, and hand-sanded blocks. It explores the interplay of shadow and light, the contrast of new and old, and themes of decay and renewal. Ultimately, it depicts the irony found in the harmony of an oxymoron.
