About this artwork

Artist Nick Savides paints a couple and their dog sitting on a carpet of green under the dappled sunlight at Washington Square Park. The late October sun lies low in the sky, filtering through the trees looking west. The blurry shadows on the grass contrast with the bark on the tree in the foreground. They form an inverted triangle, mimicking the shape of the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts in the background.
