About this artwork

The Hotel Chelsea has stood on West 23rd Street since 1884, and its facade reflects its long history. Its deep red brick, ornate cast-iron balconies, and layers of architectural detail tell the story of a building whose character and integrity have endured over time. The painting zooms in on the iconic vertical sign, with "Chelsea" in pink neon at the bottom.
