About this artwork

Artist Nick Savides captures a quiet October afternoon on Gay Street in Manhattan's West Village, where Federal-style rowhouses line the short, crooked block. Warm sunlight catches the red brick facades and bright green trees, while an ornate tower rises at the far end beneath a heavy gray sky. Three figures stand midway down the street, a photographer and two subjects paused during a photo shoot. Meticulous detail and clean paint application bring the familiar architecture to life while the limited activity gives the scene a dreamlike sense of stillness.
