About this artwork

Artist Nick Savides paints the corner of East 12th Street and Avenue A in the East Village. Eduardo Kobra's Run DMC mural has dominated the scene since 2018, says Nick. The gray afternoon in early spring matches perfectly with the black and white image in the mural. Two white cars in the street link the gigantic picture to its surroundings. Nick uses the original reference photograph, interpreting the painting with changes, big and small.
