About this artwork

A corner view of Rivington and Ludlow in the Lower East Side of New York City. "The Serafina Restaurant is in the foreground," states artist Nick Savides. "There is graffiti on the buildings, some from the BLM protests in 2020. A senior walks into the scene with a cane. His jacket reflects the jacket worn by the man pictured in the graffiti. A young woman crosses his path, while an embracing couple looks on." The composition is dominated by reds and yellows and a prominent diagonal formed by the edge of the sidewalk.
