About this artwork

This painting is part of artist Onelio Marrero’s series celebrating the joy and wonder children experience during a day at the Jersey Shore. The title was inspired by a moment when one of his granddaughters joyfully exclaimed, “This is the life!” as she ran into the surf. Painted with bold strokes and a soft, sun-washed palette, Onelio captures the scene with both confidence and sensitivity. Light played a central role in his process, especially in rendering the reflections and movement of the shallow water.
