Says the Great Bell at Bow
About this artwork
This painting depicts a usual English summer afternoon in the neighborhood of St Mary-le-Bow at Cheapside, London, says artist Swarup Dandapat. It is a historic church rebuilt after the Great Fire of 1666 by Sir Christopher Wren on the main east-west thoroughfare. The sound of its bells holds a prominent place in the famous English folklore of Dick Whittington and His Cat.
