Idling in the Mid-Day Sun
About this artwork
This painting was inspired by the sight of boats moored in London, explains artist Swarup Dandapat. While the boats appear to be idling on the calm river water - far off from the hustle and bustle of the city - they are all set and itching to sail. The painting depicts a somewhat still scene, but the restlessness I felt within while creating this can be sensed if one observes it for long. The background has been kept a little blurred, as if by the dazzling mid-day sun, to heighten that feeling of motion in stillness.
