About this artwork

Artist Gail Ragains depicts a woman sitting with one leg over the other. Colored in complementing hues of red, green, beige, and blue, the figure exudes a feeling of strength and confidence in her posture. The pose is very anchored, says Gail. I left out unnecessary detail in the figure and background. The canvas instead is broken into large bold shapes, giving the viewer an opportunity to fill in their own story.
