About this artwork

Artist Gail Ragains paints a live model's pose within five minutes. Her gestural ink washes come from the direct application of ink. She approaches this work with intentional bursts of expression, followed by thoughtful lines made by a bamboo reed dipped in ink. The urgency to observe and capture her subject quickly and intuitively is felt in the energy of her piece.
