About this artwork

Making flowers as abstract as I can is a challenge I enjoy but often terrifies me, i.e. the act of deliberately straying away from what flowers actually look like. But it always amazes me the extent one can distort, flatten, texturise and deform shapes and surface and still get something that looks like a vase of flowers. I look at them as abstract paintings. And, of course, you never have to water them.
