About this artwork

Artist Joe Giuffrida captures the cliffside of a southwest mesa with the warm tones of the desert landscape. The cooler greens of the Pinyon Pines at the base balance the color palette. The intent of this painting was to capture something of the immense descending bluff in relation to the surrounding terrain, says Joe. With its suggested striations, the precipice dominates the painting, while the rounded tops of the woods below give the piece a soft counterweight. I added a hint or suggestion of trees at the top to create distance and depth.
