About this artwork
Artist Joe Giuffrida displays an impressionist perspective of the Hudson Valley. He approximates the feel of an overcast and humid day along a tributary of the river in summer. The paper was initially brushed down with water, and then watery pigment was added, painting in most of the mid-tones in one pass, shares Joe. His very loose approach allows the colors to flow over designated boundaries. He adds a second layer of paint with dark greens and browns after the paper dries, saving the negative white spaces for clouds.
