About this artwork

A woman balances on one leg with her arms raised behind her. She wears a red-and-white striped outfit with black thigh-high stockings and a paw-like shoe. A bunny head replaces her own. The sculpture is part of artist Kat Silver's circus-themed series that explores women's empowerment and the pressure they face to look pretty and hide their true selves to be of service to others from a young age. Kat draws inspiration from an oil painting she made titled "Head Held High." It highlights women as resilient and strong despite the trauma and struggle they have endured.
