About this artwork
Jay Jensen explains of this lush scene, I visited the Gettysburg battlefield in April and the timing was perfect. In that part of the country, there are lots of flowering trees, particularly dogwood and a pink flower producing variety called redbud, and they were peaking on Little Round Top that day. Little Round Top was the scene of the most savage carnage during the second day of fighting July 2, 1863.
