About this artwork
Artist Jay Jensen draws inspiration from the haunting, textured landscapes of Andrew Wyeth. While Wyeth famously painted dried corn husks, Jay wondered why he never focused on the equally compelling milkweed, a plant native to both Pennsylvania and Canada. Channeling a deep familiarity with the subject, first developed decades prior while sketching them as an art student at Gettysburg College, Jay intricately captures the plant's vibrant green leaves and fluffy blue hairs attached to its seeds.
