About this artwork

A scarlet road moves forward into the distance through a soft-focused countryside creating a contemporary atmospheric landscape. The eye moves around the composition, lead by the road, the rising mist at its end and the uplifting warm light by the horizon, shares artist Mandy Main. The fiery road makes a vivid contrast to the warm palette of olive, warm greens, and ochres. Mandy renders her work with loose, animated paint application using knives and spatulas. The horizontal format lends a sense of calm while the road and the lively texture add movement and intrigue.
