About this artwork

An oil painting in the Old Master style of a horseshoe crab resting upside down on a wooden table. Warm overhead light from an unseen window illuminates the scene and creates gentle reflections on the many surfaces. Daniel says he first painted the subject and then built the shadows with thin glazes.
