About this artwork

A mother and child sit in front of a cozy fire, basking in the warmth it provides. The scene captures the miracle of childbirth and the intimate bond between them. Artist C.M. Cooper used several photographs she took as references for the composition. After the paint dried, she glazed the foreground with a transparent neutral color to keep the focus on the mother and child.
