About this artwork

Artist Jose H. Alvarenga paints a vintage ceramic statuette of a child ready for bed. I found this figurine of a baby boy holding a teddy bear, and right away, I got inspired to paint it, shares Jose. The infant lays on top of a thick bedtime storybookÑthe author none other than Jose himself. He creates a fun tribute to childhood and the nostalgia of the bedtime stories read to him and his siblings by their parents before going to sleep.
