About this artwork

Artist Keith Thomson depicts the Mets mascot riding the train—once again establishing his recurring narrative of unexpected commuters in transit. "With their mosaics of chrome, wildly varying colors, and refracted light, subway cars are an impressionist's cornucopia," says Keith. He features the line of New York's number 7 to Flushing, noting that it has seven trains, are eleven cars long, and that Flushing is where the New York Mets play. Keith used oil paint and ink to create this piece.
