About this artwork

A close view of a zebra transforms its familiar stripes into sweeping black-and-white patterns. Textured brushwork follows the lowered head, while soft grays and hints of rose and ochre add warmth to the portrait. Patches of silver leaf remain visible between the painted marks, catching light across the surface. The loose paint handling balances the strong graphic pattern with the softness of the animal's features.
