About this artwork

Robots engaging in human activities has all the appeal to me of children engaging in adult activities. It elevates the best qualities of both to a status at once endearing and also, really funny. I love the idea of a robot roaming about his world, performing human activities as though they make any sense to his particular existence. Watching a robot shave in imitation of a man would be like watching a five-year-old boy shave in imitation of his father. The only difference would be whether or not rust remover proved necessary after the task was done. The sides are finished with the same variety of muted scraps as the front background. The work comes wired and ready to hang.
