About this artwork
Freeform shapes in shades of deep blue, purple, and red rest in an orderly arrangement against a soft turquoise ground. Inspired by Abstract Expressionists such as Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman, the work explores Color Field painting through woven rather than painted surfaces. Artist Rowen Schussheim-Anderson achieves subtle transitions by layering fabric and beads row by row on a four-harness floor loom.
