About this artwork
Artist Patrick Duffy uses abstraction to create a dialogue between the imagination and remove the limiting barriers of distance and dimension. He cleverly uses linear marks to represent how space and light can stretch. In this piece, Patrick adorns the composition with a symphony of stripes. At its heart lies an almond-shaped presence, flanked gracefully by semi-circles on either side, exuding an aura of intrigue and mystery. Sometimes, it's easy to forget that there is a vast and obscure world out there, says Patrick. To grasp at anything too large for its capacity gives the sensation of being small, and that can have a big effect on the self.
