About this artwork

In this tonal landscape, artist Benjamin Thomas employs contrasting hues to evoke a vibrant scene. Using a palette knife instead of brushes, he layers and blends paint, revealing gradations achieved through unique gray mixtures. The composition features a dramatic interplay of light and shadow, where warm golden sunlight breaks through a predominantly cool sky, casting silhouettes of foliage across the field below.
