About this artwork

A whimsical portrait of a dancer in an expressionist tutu. I wanted to create an image coordinating the model's brilliant white cotton candy hair with her dance costume, says artist Gary Leonard. I explored breaking down elements of the figure into angular forms that complement the composition. The painting is a blend of fantasy and reality.
