About this artwork

The Ottawa Valley is the valley of the Ottawa River that divides Eastern Ontario from Western Quebec, explains artist Doug Cosbie. Originally Algonquin land later travelled by the French, Scottish and Irish fur traders, many settled in the valley and carved out their farmland. This painting depicts such a farm with the Ottawa River looking towards Quebec and the Canadian Shield.
