A spring field in Texas Hill Country blanketed with wildflowers and bordered by old growth oak trees. "This painting contains many of my favorite elements in the landscape - oak trees, hills, cacti, rocks and flowers," says artist David Forks. He utilized a painterly impressionist technique to capture the fleeting splendor of the scene.

David Forks

Del Rio, Texas

David has always wanted to be a painter. His professional career consisted of design and illustration roles, but it was not until a brush with his own mortality that David decided to change careers and become a full-time artist. “I quit my job in Houston and moved to the small and slow-paced border town of Del Rio, Texas, where I am now living my dream,” he says. Inspired by the outdoors, he often paints outside or takes photographs on his road trips to which he refers once back in his studio. The resulting paintings are marked by impressionist-style brushwork and a natural use of color. David’s pastoral scenes of the countryside are idyllic, invoking within the viewer a serene sense of calm.

Thank you so much for your message. Im very happy that I could be of inspiration to you. I just recently moved to Del Rio after living in Spring for about 17 years. Like you, I was sidetracked by having to "work" for a living while my ex and I raised 4 boys. I always wanted to paint and just knew that I had it in me. I made a plan and I stuck with it. If I can do it, then anyone can. Good luck and happy painting! David

Your artwork is both stunning and inspiring. It's a pleasure to see someone whose work shows their love of live and living. I live in Spring, Texas and am an artist who got sidetracked with having to make a living doing broadcasts and photography for years. I've finally been able to return to the love of my life and seeing your work inspires me to make some changes to make my life gear up to what I did growing up and when I studied in a program with other professional artists.
