Cynthia drew inspiration for this abstract floral scene from a brilliant bouquet of flowers in her studio. She says she used expressionistic brushwork to intensify the energy from the blossoms to create something different and unique. The semi-representational red berries draw the viewer into the scene. Quick, assured brushstrokes develop the leaves and petals. And Cynthia completely eliminated the vase, just using the subtle outline of a table to set the space.
Cynthia Ligeros creates abstract, complex works that usually begin with a single driving emotion. She currently lives in Colorado and loves the work of many artists, such as Mark Rothko. Cynthia loves finding inspiration in the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. If you look closely at any of her paintings, you can find a little bit of blue sky hidden somewhere.
