Artwork

Using a limited palette and harmonious colors, artist Faye Vander Veer paints a leisurely scene of a winter afternoon at the Tuileries Gardens in Paris. "There is a casualness in the stroll of the figures as the sun casts long shadows across the park," says Faye. She draws the viewer's eye to travel the composition toward the fountain and statues lined near the trees. Faye's loose brushwork suggests areas of interest, leaving the details much to be appreciated further by the observer.

Virginia Beach, Virginia

Artist Faye Vander Veer seeks out moments with engaging narratives and captures them with an impressionist style. Her dramatic use of color, texture, light and shadow lend a glowing quality, creating an energy all their own. While using her own photographs as a general reference, it is her sensory memory of the event and her emotional reaction that is conveyed on the canvas, causing the viewer to be transported to another time and place. “Painting becomes a language I use to express my emotional response to what is before me and share my experience of the subject with others,“ says Faye.

Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know how personal "Surf's Up" is to you. My heart and soul go into each my paintings which are created from my own experiences and my emotional reaction to that experience. They always find their rightful owner. This has been confirmed over and over again. I have always loved dogs and include them in many of my paintings. They show us nothing but unconditional love. I am touched that my little painting "Surf's Up", reminds you of your time with your first "best friend." It too has found its rightful owner. I hope you will enjoy it for years to come. All the best, Faye

I can't tell you how much I love "Surf's Up". Every day it makes me smile. When people look at it, they assume I had a painting of me and my first dog commissioned as the resemblance is uncanny. Thank you for this beautiful work.

You are so kind. I believe you must be a writer as your words bring my painting to life. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your reaction to "A Pinch of Salt." I am smiling :-)

Thank you so much. My paintings are so personal to me. My philosophy is that each of my paintings always finds its rightful owner. I am so happy to know one of my paintings has found a home with you. I hope you will enjoy it for many years. Did you choose "Winter in Paris" or "18th and Walnut?" Two of my paintings on "UGallery" sold at the same time and I was just wondering which one was yours. All the best, Faye

Hello all of you art lovers out there. I am so excited to become part of the "UGallery" family of artists and cannot wait to have dialogue with those of you who "connect" with my paintings and want to share your comments with me. I hope to be posting more paintings to my "wall space" so you will have more opportunity to know me better and see what is in my heart. I am mostly a figure painter, but unfortunately, at the moment, most of work is tied up in an exhibit until the end of April. I don't mean to ramble on, but one of the things I like most about "UGallery" is the opportunity to correspond directly with you. My art is so personal and I have a story about each painting, because every one is painted from my own experiences. I absolutely love talking about them and sharing the inspiration behind each one. I'd love to hear from you - until then.....Take care, Faye
