Watercolor Impressions of Chinese Architecture 15
About this artwork
Artist Siyuan Ma presents an impressionist depiction of the Hanging Temple, a famous cultural landmark in China. Its Chinese name takes the character Xuan from Chinese Taoism and Kong from Buddhism. It was later renamed the Hanging Temple because the whole temple is hanging on a cliff, says Siyuan. In Chinese, Xuan and Hanging sound the same, hence the name. He beautifully captures the distinctive architecture renowned for its precariousness and steepness.
