About this artwork

Here's the kind of place many of us would like to find to spend even a fleeting weekend; a European styled villa, hidden, and nestled up next to a sheltering woods. The painting is executed in a very painterly style, yet full of delightful details. Catherine says she worked with color contrasts, playing the warm tones of the villa against dark blues and violets in the deep woods, with a fresh green foreground suggestive of spring. The viewer is encouraged to imagine the secret location.
