About this artwork

A colorful view of the rolling foothills of Mt. Diablo in the San Francisco Bay Area. I enjoy painting at this location for the expanse of interesting hill formations as well as for the lovely copse of trees in the mid-ground, says artist Catherine McCargar, all with their purple shadows that I often feature in my landscape paintings. Catherine captured the characteristic golden hills of the area, paying close attention to the lighting effects of the swift-moving fog overhead.
