About this artwork

In northern California winters, delicate mists roll in from the Pacific, softening and coloring the land with muted blues and lavenders. In this transparent watercolor scene of hills with a view of Mt. Diablo, I wanted to paint the dark calligraphy of the native oak tree branches against the lovely soft misty blues that hovered in the valleys; a delicate balance.
