About this artwork

You are at the vantage point where you can see the dry grasses at your feet, the cumulus clouds floating overhead, a farm and the hills behind it in the far distance. The sky and clouds were blocked in with warm pastel colors that were washed in with water to make a permanent underpainting that could take layers of progressively lighter pastels.This gives the sky and clouds a touch of luminosity and shimmer. The warm details in the foreground create the depth for the cools of the far valley.
