About this artwork

This autumn scene was rendered by multiple layers of pastel giving distance and depth to the image. A waterway reflects the autumn colors in the still water. Lily pads bring your eye through the scene. The foreground is shallow, putting the viewer on the edge of the water. “I wanted to capture the warm hues of autumn and compliment them with their opposite hue, creating something beautiful, a scene I have viewed many times in different places.” explained artist Joanie Ford.
