About this artwork

I am from a large family so it follows that I have attended many weddings over my lifetime. I always look forward to them and the celebrations that follow. It's always thrilling to raise a glass in a toast to the couple. In this painting, I had a table a bit distant from the newly married couple and it reminded me a bit of Pieter Bruegel's well known wedding painting where the bride and groom are not immediately visible. Likewise, I placed the couple almost off the frame so that the focus would be on the gesture of raising the toast. The painting is varnished, wired and ready for hanging. The edges are a clean white gesso.
