About this artwork
As a young girl, I traveled to NYC with the girls scouts. We visited The United Nation building on our tour. I found behind the glass case in the gift shop, a porceline geisha doll which I purchased. This was the beginning of my fascination with the geisha. Steinbeck's, The Pearl and Pearl S. Buck's, The Green Earth were enlightening novels of asian culture that I read over and over. This piece was underpainted with a muted yellow. The oil paint was applied with gusto. The sides are painted to match the front and will hang nicely with or without a frame. It is wired to hang.
