About this artwork
The word geisha comes from the Japanese word “gei” meaning art and “sha” meaning person. Geishas are artisans and purveyors of traditional Japanese culture. During a visit to The UN building in NYC at age 7, I purchased a porcelain geisha figurine and read as much information I could find regarding the geisha. In the painting Red Temple I presented the geisha in costume walking to the red temple.Red represents strength, peace and protection.
