About this artwork

I've lately been using the idea of flight and wings as symbolism in my work, and this piece continues that trend. Depicting a solitary winged figure, standing ready but unable to fly due to her tangled wings, this painting explores all the things in life that hold us back from soaring towards our dreams. I decided to use text to further illustrate this point, with words and expressive lines combining to create a minimal, poetic surrealism.
